We had a very busy weekend. Yesterday we had our annual Haven's - O'Connor Christmasparty. It used to be only Troy, Jami and daughter Olivia and Angelika, Shawn and Amelie. But since this August Oscar Havens and Alexandra O'Connor have joined the party. It was fun: we had traditional German food that was always eaten in my family for Christmas: Weisswurst (white sausage), mashed potatoes, Sauerkraut. We also added red cabbage but this is not truly authentic. As a desert we had apple strudel with vanilla icecream. Santa also came to visit but needless to say the girls could not be fooled. They knew it was Shawn. It was just nice to hang out with the Havens', especially since it has been a while since we got to hang out. There are some pics of Oscar and Alex dating already and of Santa. It was a lot of fun and I decided that as long as the O'Connor's / Havens are within a 100 miles radius the party will be always on. The O'Connor party is worth a trip of 100 miles!!!
Today (Sunday, December 14) is my mother's Birthday (Happy Birthday) and we celebrated Marchesa's 1st Birthday. It was quite a party!!! We thought we could get some shopping done afterwards but the party just lasted longer than expected! It was fun! Marchesa is the cutest tiniest thing... She is one year old!!! Happy Birthday Marchesa!!!
Also: today Alex had her first try at cereal (see pics). She did not like it much... don't know why. Amelie liked it better when we started her out.
Happy Birthday Marchesa! Heute ist auch der Geburtstag meiner Mutter. Herzlichen Glueckwunsch an meine Mutter!

Hi Angelika!
Amelie and Alex are dolls! I'll have to have mom dig up some photos...but I had the exact same haircut as Amelie when I was younger (well, maybe all of us had that one).
Hope you, Sean and the girls have a very happy Christmas!
xoxo

Angelika,
assuming that your Christmas party was in the afternoon / evening, I must object and tell you that a German Weisswurst is not authentic either!
He, who knows alias Tom!
my comment to Tom's comment: It really depends in what part of Germany people celebrate Christmas and what kind of food they eat. My grandmother and grandfather grew up in Schlesien (what is now Poland) and they both ate as a traditional dinner Weisswurst. This is what I grew up with hence the tradition today in MY family. It will be completely different in other families.
