The GREAT Pumpkin - pre Halloween

Morgen ist Halloween!!! Das ist ein Riesenfest hier in der USA - besonders fuer Kinder. Amelie wollte eigentlich Dorothy von "The Wizard of Oz" sein hat sich aber in letzter Minute fuer ein cheerleader von "High School Musical" entschieden. Alex ist "Ally - the Alligator" :-) Ich bin einfach nur Mama - wie langweilig. Morgen gehen wir zu Freunden zum 'trick or treat'. Die Kinder ziehen sich also Kostueme an und gehen von Haus zu Haus und sagen: 'trick or treat'. Und dann kriegen sie eben Schokolade und Bonbons und so. Danach haben unsere Freunde eine kleine Party und die Kinder rennen wie wild durchs Haus und machen eine Riesenunordnung. Es ist auch Tradition einen Kuerbis auszuschneiden und wie man sieht haben wir das gestern Abend in Angriff genommen.It is pre-Halloween everywhere and this is true also for the O'Connor family. Amelie will this year be a cheerleader from 'High School Musical' and Alex is Ally - the Alligator. We also carved our pumpkin yesterday, lit him up and placed him in front of our house - SPOOKY... Tomorrow we will go to friend's neighborhood for 'trick-or-treating' and afterwards there will be a little party - can't wait. Yesterday for the first time in AGES I went with a friend out to dinner and a movie and we saw 'The Duchess' - what a great movie. I like those period movies (and books) anyways so I know I would not be disappointed.

Heute war Alex' zwei Monats Besuch beim Arzt und sie hat drei Impfungen bekommen :-( Ich habe meine Alex noch nie so schreien hoeren. Die dicken Traenen sind nur so die dicken Backen runtergekullert. Da verkrampft einem schon das Herz... Ausserdem muss ich einen kindsgerechten Zahnarzt finden fuer die Amelie. Sie kriegt jetzt schon ihren zweiten neuen Zahn und der kommt schon raus, obwohl der alte Zahn noch ganz normal da ist. Sie hat jetzt also sozusagen eine zweite Reihe von Zaehnen entwickelt (wie beim Hai - hihihihihi). Aus irgendwelchen Gruenden hat sie Angst vor dem Zahnarzt. Naja - Amelie hat Angst vor vielen Sachen aber woher die Zahnarztangst kommt weiss ich nicht. Es wird schwierig werden sie ueberhaupt in die Zahnarztpraxis reinzulocken. Aber da muss sie wohl durch - schliesslich ist es eine Frage der Gesundheit und daher 'non-negotiable'.

Amelie gibt ihrer Schwester Alex andauernd Kuesse und Umarmungen und erdrueckt das arme Kind fast. Heute wollte sie die Alex wieder umbedingt halten und da habe ich eben mal ein paar Bilder von den beiden gemacht. Die Bilder in dem Amelie eine Taucherbrille aufhat: sie sagt sie ist am Strand. Sie lag also splitternackt auf Alex' kleinem Liegestuhl, richtet diesen gegen unsere Lampe im Wohnzimmer, setzt die Taucherbrille auf und befindet sich somit am Strand. Da lag sie also so fuer 15 Minuten heute abend am Strand. Life is good!!! ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Amelie loves her little sis. She hugs and kisses and smothers her constantly - hence the pictures. The one with the goggles: She pretented to be sunbathing on the beach. She was buttnaked in Alex' chair, faced the floorlamp in our living room, put the goggles on and sunbathed for about 15 minutes. Shawn and I were cracking up!!! Today was Alex' two months doc appointment and she got her first shots :-( She cried like she never cried before. Big humungous crocodile tears streaming down her big cheeks. I about just cried with her. But - knock on wood - she seems to do fine although she slept more today than usual. We also need to find a pediatric dentist for her. Another tooth is coming in where the old one hasn't even come out yet. She has now two rows of teeth (like a shark). She is very much afraid to go to the dentist but this one is non-negotiable: she has to go since this is a question of health. I will let you know how the dentist went. They will probably have to close all their windows and doors so as to muffle Amelie's screaming - oh well... On the 17th of November it is back to work for me - YUCK!!! Although these days it is good to have a job so I am really lucky.

Da ich ja jetzt ein blog habe will ich mir auch die Zeit nehmen und unser neues Familienmitglied vorstellen: Alexandra Kailyn wurde am 23. August 2008 um 6:32 Uhr geboren. Sie war 8 Pfund und 12 ounces schwer (das sind so 3700 Gramm) und sie ist gesund und munter. Amelie ist super lieb mit ihr und bis jetzt ganz von ihrer kleinen Schwester begeistert. Wir muessen mal abwarten wie das sich entwickelt wenn die Alex erstmal anfaengt zu laufen und staendig hinter Amelie hinterher rennt und mit ihrem Spielzeug spielen will :-) Wir werden sehen...//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Since I am doing now my own personal blog I thought it would be a good idea to introduce our new familty member: Alexandra Kailyn was born on August 23, 2008 at 6:32am and she was 8 pounds and 12 ounces HEAVY! She is doing great and so is the rest of the family. Amelie loves her new sister and I hope it will stay this way... one never knows... I can already hear the complaints: "Mom - Alex is looking at me!" or "Mom - Alex follows me around and touches everything." etc... In any case: we are very lucky to have two beautifuly healthy girls: Shawn's own chick farm!!!

Unser Tag heute / Our day we had today

Wir waren heute bei Shawn's Vater Patrick zu Besuch und seine Grosseltern waren auch da (also Amelie's Urgrosseltern. Danach waren wir noch auf einer Kuerbisfarm in der Naehe von Shawn's Vater's Haus (in Canton - so ca. eine Stunde suedlich von Cleveland). Das Wetter heute war super: blauer Himmel und nicht zu kalt. War wirklich ein super Tag!

Today we went down to Canton to visit Shawn's dad, his wife Tracy and their son Ryan. They live in Canton. Shawn's grandparents were there as well (they are Amelie's and Alex' greatgrandparents!!!). Afterwards we went to a local pumpkin farm since the weather was outstanding. We had a wonderful day. It was also nice to see the family again.

Tie Dye Wochenende im Mai. Es war ein wunderschoener Tag und wir waren an diesem Tag spaeter noch an einem See. Ich bin hier 5 Monate mit Alex schwanger.

Es sieht so aus als ob ich nur 5 Bilder auf einmal uploaden kann. Das ist ein bisschen nervig. Ich hatte gehofft, dass ich einen ganzen Haufen Bilder auf einmal uploaden kann.

Okay - I just learned how to upload one picture to the blog. Now I need to find out how to upload a video and a whole album... I know - most people do that in like one minute - it will take me longer than that. I am somehow challenged in the gadget department.... This picture was taken in May - Amelie got her first real bike.
